Which test do you need?
UCAT: most UK medicine and dentistry courses. LNAT: law at participating universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, KCL, LSE and UCL. TMUA: mathematics, computer science and economics at universities including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, LSE, UCL and Warwick. ESAT: engineering and science courses at universities such as Cambridge and Imperial.
Some courses use other assessments, including college-specific tests at Oxford and Cambridge. Always confirm the requirement on the course page and in the UCAS course listing before you book.
The right order: confirm, book, then prepare
Step 1: shortlist your courses and confirm which tests each one needs.
Step 2: create your test account and book the earliest date that leaves you four to eight weeks of preparation, before the booking deadline. Test-centre slots in Indian cities can fill up close to the deadline.

When should I register for the UCAT?

Is it too late to take the LNAT for 2027 entry?
Not for most universities. Oxford and Cambridge required a test by 15 October 2026, but KCL, LSE and UCL accept tests until 31 December 2026, and most others until 25 January 2027.
Can I book a test after the deadline?
Usually no. Test providers close booking at the published deadline, and universities do not accept late tests for that cycle.
Can Oxford or Cambridge applicants take the January TMUA or ESAT?
